That's the HD Sportster ridden by Michael Parks in the TV show "Then Came Bronson" It magically turned into a Hodaka Ace whenever they needed to film any off road riding.

As I recall it is a copy of the Easy Rider bike on display at Barber Motorsports.

Original rode by Peter Fonda.

You are right, Fuzzy. There were two originals. Dan Haggerty (Grizzly Adams) built the two originals from 2 L.A. police motorcycles. After the movie was done, the two originals were stripped, and the parts sold. No one ever imagined the movie would become part of motorcycle history at the time of the production. All though a number of folks over the years have claimed to have the originals (including Dan Haggerty), the originals just do not exist.

Long Way Down is a television series, a motorcycle journey undertaken by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. They are riding the BMW R1200GS Adventure. Its a pretty good series. I've watched several of them.

It helps to have been to the Barber Museum where a number of your pictures were taken. ;)

The museum should be on every biker's bucket list.

The National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa has one of the Captain America bikes on display, and they have a certificate of authenticity from Peter Fonda stating that it is one of the original bikes from the movie.

This is the frame of the bike that Haggerty states was given to him by Fonda. The original was parted out by Haggerty and the parts went their different ways. All sold by Haggerty for a lot more than he would have gotten for just the bike! Haggerty built this unit from some parts he states he had left from the original, and sold it for a good price. No frame number to either prove or disapprove Haggerty's claim, as both originals were bikes that belonged to L.A. police officers and both had frame numbers.. So, Fonda wrote letter for Haggerty to sell the bike for the price he wanted. Only person who really knows is Haggerty. Haggerty was also convicted for selling cocaine, he needed money at the time.

Like Dennis, I highly recommend seeing The National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa.5.jpg
