What and Who?

"The Rebel without a Cause" had three motorcycles in his life time. Those bikes were a CZ 125cc (Wiz), a CZ 350, and a Triumph 500. Most folks are use to seeing this picture of James Dean on his Triumph.7.jpg

The 1947 Indian Chief belonged to the ex-Astronaut Charles (Pete) Conrad, Jr., the Apollo 12 Captain and a Congressional Space Medal of Honor recipient. He was the 3rd man to walk on the moon. He was by far the best pilot of all the astronauts. Per Al Sheppard, the first man to space, the only reason Conrad was not the first man into space was he gift wrapped his stool sample for the doctor. Conrad did not like all the BS NASA but astronauts through. In total Conrad flew four separate missions into space including Gemini 5, Gemini 11, Apollo 12 and the Skylab mission. It was as a result of his heroic efforts in rescuing Skylab that Captain Conrad was awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor, an award given to only a handful of people.

After retiring from NASA Captain Conrad returned to civilian life and developed a passion for vintage and contemporary motorcycles. Conrad's wife also rode motorcycles. He was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1999. Thought he just had a deep bruise, but it as a severed artery and he died a few hours later from internal bleeding.6.jpg

I would guess that is your son on the cannonball run. Great video!

Good guess. When you put up your fly-boy hint I couldn't resist. He flies F-16, and F-22 for Air National Guard, a YaK 50 for fun and air shows, and regional jets for a day job.

Here he is in Atlantic City a few years ago:

Fuzzy,

it is great you make your son's air shows. I think you know my father was an ex navy pilot, like you ex navy guys. When I was on the air show team some how my father always showed up also, it was great. I know your son will never forget that fact!5.jpg
