There’s a lot of money to be had in resurrecting and reimagining an iconic moto fave; not only do you get to capitalize on the sentimentalities of an older generation, but those same riders get to pass on their knowledge to the next gens – and today, it looks Yamaha’s doing just that.
Coverage from RideApart states that trademarks have been found showing Yamaha’s filed for the names RZ250 And RZ350. While both original machines harken from the ’70s/’80s, odds are that this package of two-stroke track weapon potential will premier in Japan first before expanding across the water… if the bikes make it to us at all.
One can hope, right?

A reminder that patent regulations have recently changed; it’s now harder for a brand to file for a name that they won’t be using in the near future.
For Yamaha and other brands, this means there’s going to be a better idea of what’s soon coming to market, with the resurrection of the RZ350 and RZ250 all but confirmed.
Submission of Yammie’s papers was purportedly handed in on April 12th, with the papers confirmed on the 20th, using the Nice (per the capital of the Alpes-Maritimes department on the French Riviera) Classification System to label both names under Class 12.
