Return to the Land of the Dragon...again....2017

I'm planning on coming but I haven't camped in many years. I just need the basics, right? A place to sleep and food to share?

I'm riding to Arkansas on the 17th, returning the 22nd... guess I will miss out on the meet. If somehow my Arkansas ride falls through I will ride to this gathering instead. Looks like a great meet!

I usually pack a bit of food for snacks and at most two small meals, but I'd have to say the majority of riders don't seem to bring food. There are some local restaurants I enjoy hitting whenever I'm in the area. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the Kickstand Lodge proprietor, Mo, cooks up a huge delicious meal that will stuff you, all for a small donation. It's something I look forward to. The establishment is not officially a restaurant, so you can't eat there if you're not an overnight guest. It's also not officially a bar, but there is beer available for a donation.

You can tent camp anywhere on the property ($20/night), and there are tiny cabins available if you don't want to mess with a tent. Towels are provided in the shower house.

Bring cash for any camping fees or meal donations. Credit cards are not accepted.

Lunch is usually a stop during our daily rides. But don't depend on 670cc, he eats like a rabbit LOL.
No shortage of good spots for lunch in nearby towns Robbinsville, Andrews, Tellico Plains.
I remember breakfast is served Saturday morning, if MO is in a good mood :)
Now, for morning coffee, you bring your own, if you have an affliction for Columbian like me.
The pavillion/kitchen area always has coffee as someone always makes a pot to share.
This is the reason I prefer KSL over IH, no nickel and dime'ing over simple, basic necessities.

I hope you guys like ostentatious roasted to order single source free trade coffee, because that's what I'll be bringing ;) I will, sadly, grind it in advance because I really don't want to haul my grinder lol. Is there a coffee maker there?

I'm pretty sure a friend of mine will be joining us on his KLR. Not sure GunNut37086 will make it.

I'll be bringing this: but you have to rise early for it.
I usually have my first cup at sunrise.

My new job is keeping me closer to home in May, I was planning on doing a southern Indiana event early in the month but I canceled my RSVP there in favor of attending KSL again. I had a great time last year. I may be bringing a couple of guests so I'm not sure about lodging yet but I'm in.

To hijack thread for a moment: Dave, what event in southern Indiana were you planning to attend? I live in southern Indiana and know of no event..Just curious.
Back to the main point. I am in. I have vacation approved; new rear tire on the NC700x; going to contact Mo sometime this week for a bunk bed reservation.

I regret this event is another off my calendar this year. OCR and I (protecting the flanks in the photo) are still planning a grand tour later this July, north to Prudhow Bay, Alaska and then to the southern tip of South America and return. I have curtailed my romping across the country to put those resources into the kitty. I know I will miss the camaraderie I enjoyed last year while riding on those winding back roads, getting my photo taken again while doing the Dragon, and the great food and hospitality at Mo's KSL. Maybe next year!

CampStoc is going to be in Stockton, IN May 4-7th. CampStoc is primarily an ST1300 event, though I've attended several on my NC700X, that is sited in the east USA each May.

ST1300 site states the 2017 campstoc event is in Scottsburg In. I live 10 miles from Scottsburg. Delaney Park is 8 miles north of Salem Indiana in Washington county (Salem is 25 miles west of Scottsburg). It takes me about 25 minutes to ride to Delaney Park from my house (I know the back country roads to it). That is Derby weekend and I have to work in Louisville until noon on Derby day, but if it is nice, I may be riding in the Salem area (if I don't ride over to Red River gorge and catch up with Brad). I may see some of those ST boys out and about...

Me too, got cabin reservation for the two or three in my party. Looking forward to some good riding and seeing both new and familiar faces at KSL.

We are three.

I hope to join rides but don't want to do dirt/mud/creeks.
We shall see, eh?
Looking forward to seeing folks again.
