My replacement lower fork bolts came in, so time to reassemble the forks and reinstall over the weekend!

A few pictures of my collection of goodies. I am really happy how the damper rods turned out. Went over to a friend's house and used his drill press with carbide bits, followed by deburring with various tools.

Nothing'

due to the forecasted rain i took the little f150 to the Auburn area to meet up with a friend for a day or two then right back home. Would have rather taken the bike but too cold/rainy for that much distance this spring! :{p

This is a project I am going to be doing in the next few weeks. Question. Why do you have to drill out/enlarge the hole in the valve? I like how tidy you are! I start out that way and then when frustration sets in it looks like the Tasmanian devil rolled through.

Why do you have to drill out/enlarge the hole in the valve?
With the Race Tech Valves, you enlarge the existing holes + add four new holes on the damping rod to effectively render it useless and take it out of the equation. The valve "emulator" then sits at the top of the tube and takes over providing a small orifice that fluid passes through to achieve damping.

Another popular product, the Cogent Dynamics DDC "drop-in damper cartridge", does not require drilling out the damper tube but instead specifies a much lighter weight fork oil, which essentially flows though the damper rod with much less restriction. The DDC cartridge is designed accordingly to operate with a lighter weight oil.

I like how tidy you are!
Thanks for the compliment. Eh... trust me, I'm not that tidy. Except when taking photos to impress random strangers on forums :).

Bike is back in one piece and I rode it in to work this morning. I need a bit more time with the new suspension setup to form a proper opinion, but for now I will say I'm happy with how everything turned out, and everything went back together without any problems, missing (or leftover) parts, or any major issues.

Finished connecting wires for Battery Tender, heated jacket and GPS to the battery.
Gotta say it was a challenge for my big hands to work in that small space, get the battery out/in and then hide all the wires so I could re-install the cover.
Lost the center post of two push pins, will have to get new ones & spares.

Yea those crazy push pins. Until you get the knack, you'll lose a few center pins..and who knows where they go? They don't fall out the bottom lol

Still waiting to pick up the bike (time is the only issue). But I've ordered a lot of farkles. Here's my list.

  • Puig Windscreen with visor
  • Givi engine guard
  • Fender Extender
  • Seat Concepts foam, front and rear cover
  • Admore rear light (I have the Skene P3 on hand and I may add them too)
  • Fuzeblock
  • Barkbuster hand guards (Frame and VP3 plastic)
  • Auxiliary lights and mounts ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H3VBF5Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )...looking for the right switch...maybe add the Skene dimmer (looking for opinion on that)
  • I have Skene Photon Blaster with alert on hand for the front
  • Working with EPM Performance on suspension but not a rush, they are recommending the YSS solution for the front and Hyperpro for the rear.
  • Looking at tires...Michelin Road 5 or Dunlop Roadsmart 4
Happy to shoot some really poorly produced videos on the installation of any of these if there is any value to the community here.

I'm looking for recommendations on a very small tank bag. I've read that handlebar mounts may damage cameras on phones and would like to place it in a tank bag that allows me to see the screen.

When I tried placing my iPhone in the map holder it overheated in bright sun.

Got my seat back from Laam Custom Seats. Put it on the NC and went for a 120+ mile ride to see how it feels. It is great, exactly what I wanted. I only got the front done since I ride alone. I requested the following:
- add 1" to the height
- raise front of seat to prevent sliding forward
- move seat pocket to the rear of the seat
- add width to the seat pocket

I won't need to get lowered foot pegs now so I might invest in some highway pegs for droning on the highway.
One last question. Is your seat VINYL or LEATHER? So many options ;)

I went with VINYL based on the recommendation from Seth Laam. It is a very high quality vinyl, not like what is on the stock seat. Seth will call you right before he works on your seat to discuss everything. He barely looks at the online form. We spent over 30 minutes discussing my seat when he called me. I asked about leather and he strongly recommended vinyl.

Did my first 2022 ride today as it was sunny and all roads dry. Tried for the first time my MC Motoparts 40 mm lowered pegs. Good comfort improvement. The only drawback is that it pushes feet outwards so I had to bend both brake pedal and shifter lever.
