Finally finished with the 24000 mile service. Valve adjust.(1 of the 8 adjusted but it was actually in spec but slightly looser than the other 7.) Changed out coolant. Changed brake fluid. Changed oil and filter, and finally cleaned and re-oiled the K&N air filter. This was not all done the...

Break-in complete, surprised by the acceleration.

You may want to ask the ex residents of Chernoble how clean it is to produce electricity: or Japan. Or drive the Columbia River and try to count how many ugly wind generators you see, or count the dams on the Missouri River or count up all the coal fired generating plants. It requires the...

    New rider, new bike!!!

Welcome from Missoula. I bought a 2012 NC700X that was delivered in January 2013. So far I've managed to ride it every month but last Feb. which, as you may recall, all of us in Montana spent plowing snow. So far I have managed to put over 18000 miles on it so you will get plenty of riding if...

    Old age and riding

Well I'm 70 and have put 17700 miles on "Singer" since I got her in 2013. The NC700X is a great machine and with a bit of luck I've got a few more years of riding. I promised my wife I would quit riding if I started doing stupid things. (while riding). Hopefully I will recognize when that is...

Creating a dedicated key for the storage compartment

I also spent 4 years on diesel boats. Qualified 51 years ago in 1963, and as we all know: There are only two types of people in the world, Those who are qualified in submarines and the rest of you a#$@%$es. A very old joke

So what did you do TO your NC700 today.

Replaced front and rear sprockets and put on a new chain. RK 520 XSO series X'ring - GOLD. The original chain had some 13000 miles on it and frankly I was a little surprised at how bad a shape it was in. Lots of "stiff" links. Surprised because I tend to keep things pretty well lubed. I...

2014: What did you do WITH your NC700 today?

Completed a two day, 980 mile trip from Missoula Mt. over the Beartooth Pass to Red Lodge Mt. Then to Fort Benton Mt. via Billings then back to Missoula via the Capitol of Montana, Helena. New pilot Road 3's are really a nice riding tire. The Glacier Park "Going to the Sun Highway" is...

What would be a nice pet name for our NCX700?

I call her "Singer". First off she sounds like my wife's sewing machine when shes' idling, and second it's what she makes me heart contemplate on the road.

So I went into the dealership to trade in the NC700X...

I sold my VStar 250 to buy my NC700X (Singer). I loved that little 250 and really miss it sometimes. Then again I have a pretty serious affair going with "Singer" too.

    Valve questions

Frankly I would get the proper size gauges to begin with. I got a set from Ace that have the 45 deg bend and all the proper sizes. Valve adjustment worked like a charm. Took about 3 hours. Cyl 2 valves were all fine. Adjusted All 4 on Cyl 1 although they were within spec but seemed a bit...

What is the highest elevation you've had your NC700?

I took my NC700X "Singer" over the Beartooth Highway last Wednesday. Elevation of Beartooth Pass is 10947 ft. Has anyone had their bike any higher? Here's a photo of my GPS showing a bit less elevation because I hadn't calibrated it prior to leaving in the morning. and another photo...
