Gel Battery

There are almost no gel cell batteries in the automotive industry. Most of the time AGM batteries are named ‘gel’ by their dealers, I suppose it sounds more exotic...

You will find gel batteries mainly for deep cycle applications, like UPS, alarms etc.

Also notice that AGM, gel and wet cell batteries have slightly different charging voltage, so a gel battery will get overcharged on a charging system designed for AGM batteries. The voltage is higher.

LiFePO4 / LFP chemistry batteries are compatible with AGM charging system but be sure that its real capacity is the same or close to the AGM OEM specs. It’s best to avoid pb equivalent amp hour ratings....

Each battery technology has its pros & cons. Don’t look for a better battery, it doesn’t exist (yet). There are only battery technologies that fit better specific applications... LFP has potential but it’s not for all.

Don’t buy whatever they’re selling you... Just stick to the AGM and OEM specs.

There is a good reason that AGM is the preferred lead acid battery technology in automotive industry. They can provide more cold cranking amps than any other lead acid type (at the same size) and they perform better in cold.

A very good source about batteries:
BU-201b: Gel Lead Acid Battery – Battery University

Look for a better AGM battery manufacturer, not gel...
