I don't know if Honda whould stand by there warranty on the nc700x, if one had trouble with his nc engine due to lubrication. And had a cross ref. oil filter on at that time, rather than have the Honda Genuine parts oil filter on at that time.

I don't know about other markets but in the UK the hand book states that the warranty is subject to genuine parts being used

Same here. I wouldn't use any engine related item not genuine until the warranty is ended. Being strict, even my Givi bars or wind screen could be considered to deny the warranty, but these are an easy win in any court as far as they are not the primary cause of a fault.

The United States is (uncharacteristically) lucky to have the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act, which among other things, does not allow a manufacturer to void a warranty for failing to use OEM parts unless they can show that the non-OEM part led to the failure. The same is true for owner or non-dealer service. Just keep the receipts for the parts and materials and sign your own service log that the work has been done. The requirement for OEM parts and even service was pretty much the practice before 1975.

Well I've been using the purilator pure one (pl14610) and rotella t6 since the first oil change and the bike hasn't caught fire or exploded once
