Hi folks, I am installing a pair of new Fiamm Freeway Blasters on my Nc700x. What gauge wire should I use to power the horns? I have a roll of 14 gauge stranded high temp wire on hand, do you think that would be adequate?

14 would be the minimum, assuming you're only running a few feet, <10', of wire. That's assuming 6 amps per horn.

14 AWG is entirely adequate for the horns. The only difference you will find with larger wire is that it is more difficult to install and terminate.

I get those kind of questions for my DIY music cab designs all the time. Some players are prone to extreme overkill, don't follow the reccomendations, and later have problems with the overly heavy wire runs, often breaking at the connections or prone to cold solder joints. Moderation!

Not to mention that horns are usually used in 1/2-second bursts.

12 gauge is rated to 30 amp max so 14 gauge would be fine in your application.
