Corbin seat

I literally work 5 miles away from Sargent and offered my bike to them many months ago and they were not interested at all. They did rework my stock seat but without the r and d like Corbin has done it didnt fit well. Oh we'll their loss!

Your right its thier loss. I wonder if they were betting this bike would be a flop. Oh well sometimes you gamble and win, sometimes you loose. They wouldn't get my business after that.

Sorry if this was mentioned in the thread already, but what does Corbin charge to ship the front seat? The Web site refused to tell me unless I entered all my payment info first.

I don't understand that at all. You'd think they would jump on having a bike to tinker with so they could make more seats and make more money. They're frickin seats! How much R & D goes into sticking some foam and vinyl on them? That just sucks. I really like Sargent Seats and would love to have one on this bike.....it doesn't look promising.

More than most people think.............because there certainly good and bad seats out there.............make a marginal or worst yet a poor seat get a couple of poor Internet reviews and your basically screwed. One other problem the idea is to make it better seat not a different seat.

The old saying........ there's an ass for every seat........... unfortunately there all different sizes and shapes.

Or if it was easy everyone would do it.

Then there is the problem of making seat bases or modifiy OEM base..........this is where fit problems start (ask Corbin).

my seat is being remade by a local shop should have it back this weekend, i will post pic. dale

I don't have anyone local, but if I can find a reputable shop that will make a custom seat for me, I will give them a shot.
If not, I'll cough up the dough for the RDL.

Both Rick and Bill Mayer make great seats and I've seen the Bill Mayer NC seat and it looked good.
I sent my Vstrom seat to Rick down in Cali ( just outside Redding ) and all the pics of me sitting on the bike.It took about 3 weeks and he sent me back a 100% improved seat. After about 10,000 miles it started to settle so when we were on a trip down there I rode into his shop and he redid the whole seat and I did a test ride, came back.He did a little bit work on it,put the cover back on and sent me away very happy. All for free, adjustments are free for the life of the seat !!.

Holy smokes...that's going the extra mile.
You take care of your customers and your customers will take care of you.
A lesson lost or forgotten by way too many businesses today.

His shop is next to his house in the middle of nowhere. He learned from his dad and brother that it's easier to keep a customer than to lose one !!.
If I had a extra NC seat I would send it off to him for mods, but I can't be without my bike for 3-4 weeks.

I'm going to wait and see the photos of Dale's seat redo and a comfort report before making a decision on a replacement seat. Hopefully it may be the "Holy Grail" of motorcycle seats! :)

the seat works very good, the cover is no slip, you sit in a pocket, there is no slope, once you sit in it your do not slide in any direction. the slot in the seat lets cool air threw, last week we had a 70 degree weekend, you can feel the air threw my riding gear coming threw the slot, the seat fits perfect, with my fuel tank, or the stock rear seat.
i just tested another seat being made for one of the guys on the forum, to check the fit, rocky is almost done with that seat, and should be shipped out shortly. dale

Dale,
Great seat. I have a very similar seat on my KLR650 that I bought from Saddleman. I really like it.
Is your guy Rocky able to duplicate your seat for other NC700x riders? I would be very interested in purchasing one. Maybe you and Rocky can get a side business going for after market seats! Please let me know.
Thanks,
PCG
