I love my Rok straps, have had them for years, but sometimes even they don't really do what I want.

What I found to be a great benefit to securing my stuff were these:

Called "endless" ratchet straps, I discovered, after making a set out of regular ratchet tie down straps, lol. I thought I had made a clever new invention.

My Rok straps just wouldn't work out for strapping my duffle/s to the seat of the bike. They work awesome to tie down stuff to the bike or on top of the seat, but not only to just the seat.

Cleaned and Lubed the Chain... what a difference that makes... I guess I need to get to that more often.....lol
Just used a rag, piece of an old shoe string, some good ol' WD40, and Motul Chain Lube....

HIT IT, ELWOOD !!!!!

I do carry two racket straps with me at all times. If I have a flat, I use them to secure the center stand so it can not move.9.jpg

I bought my ROK straps at this years horizons unlimited meet. Was complaining about having to take off the tent and dry bag at every fuel stop and strap everything back and what a hassle that was when fuzzy said get a pair of ROK straps! The next day I picked up a pair at Telico plains and the ride home was much less hassle.

Picked up my proof of insurance cards, checked to see if my old helmet will fit in the frunk (it doesn't) and I'm getting ready to go for a quick ride.
If the weather is nice tomorrow I'll see about doing the first oil change.

*edit*
FWIW, the old SHOEI is closer to fitting than my new BELL Star Carbon.
Anyone else get an XL helmet to fit? If so I'm guessing it would have to be a Scorpion or ICON since I think those were a little smaller when I tried them on.

Rode over to Cycle Gear to pick up handguards, then sat in traffic. Tried to go down to the Festival of Sail (about a dozen tall ships visiting this weekend), but by the time I found a parking space and walked down to the water, it was time to get back up to the bike. Overall, I sat in a lot of traffic. Waiting for it to cool down (around 100 degrees with humidity higher than it has any right to be in San Diego) before I go put the guards on.

Hooks for the ends so you could hook them to your seat.

You mean hook the two loop ends of each Rok side together before closing the seat down?

I tentatively tried that with my BMW, but was put off by the positioning of the short end side of each strap. They ended up having the fastex buckles down too far, as opposed to up on top of the luggage, and the buckles were right in the way of the OEM saddle bags, in between the bodywork and each bag. This meant I had to remove the saddle bags before being able to do up/undo the Rok straps. And they would have scratched the paint.

Hmmm. I admit I assumed they wouldn't be any better with the NCX, but I didn't even try them.

Thanks mate, I will try again and see, versus just "knowing" they won't work, and being (any more of) an idiot. :D
