I guess enough folks have now purchased the Russell Day Long Seat for the NC700 that we now have a place on their Honda Seat Gallery.

Cost last I checked was $650 for front and rear seats.

I just called RDL. The NC700 is an S-3 price code so its $745 in all leather for both seats plus shipping both directions. Seriously considering this as my next big farkle. If you do it now ( beginning of January) you can get your seat back in as little as two weeks. If you wait until mid Feb it might be as much as 10 or 11 weeks.

WOW...I'm no marketing expert and I know it's a rather ugly seat to begin with, but that's a horrible picture to put on a website.

I agree with searboy that the Russell Day Long seat is an ugly duckling. But like the ugly duckling, once you set on one it quickly becomes the wonderful swan song. It is comfortable!

I will more than likely end up with a RDL. Their comfort reputation outweighs the appearance of the seat. I just need to come up with the cash! OCR, you made that aspect harder by posting goodies like the Firstgear Torrent gearbag! lol

745 bucks! Jeez, that's just over 450 quid!

You guys should try a bit of sheep skin for about 30-40 quid, they are brilliant, I had a piece covering my Varadero seat and could easily stay in the saddle for 2 hours.

2 Hours??? You Europeans and your tiny countries...so cute. Russel Day Long calls it a Day Long because you can sit it for 12 or 14 hours. I've put plenty of 8-12 hour days on my bike and that utterly pales compared to OCR who pretty much lives on his bike.

So you refuel on the move right?

I speak of actually STAYING in the saddle, not going out for a 2 hour ride.

And another thing, I resent your patronising remark about our small countries and how 'cute' that is.

I see no need for it, it's unnecessary and spiteful.

Just as I was thinking what a nice forum this is too, maybe I was wrong.

I resent the fact that you take umbrage to such a minor ribbing. It throws back to the common complaint of European visitors about the sheer physical size of North American countries. It really takes forever to get anywhere here. You aren't wrong about this forum and I'd appreciate the benefit of the doubt in the future.

We are friendly, take what was said as comedic in nature. I found it funny, and I don't live in Rhode Island! But his statement also makes a point. I easily ride 3+ hours at a time. At 70 mph, about as long as a fuel tank will last. An RDL is on the top of my list. In fact I'm in the process of taking the photos they request, along with my passenger. I could care less what it looks like, I want maximum comfort for my very long rides.

Hey Dan,

With hindsight I think that maybe a was a little hasty, for which I apologise profusely.

I took your comment the wrong way, that's for sure and I should not of shot from the hip like that.

Sorry again. :)

No sweat. We all ride motorcycles not knit (ok, some of us knit but not while riding hopefully) and we have thick skins (mostly from road rash scar tissue) and are a little competitive and tease a little but at the end of the day we have each other's back. Watch what happens when someone really gets out of line.
