2024: What did you do to/with your NC700/NC750 today?

Day 14...rode 8 miles in a light rain @ 51 degrees over to my buddy's house (with a lift) where we changed the oil in the NC for the 6th time at 39,0080 miles. Used 10W 40 this time as the shop was out of 10w30 when I picked up oil last week. It has rained all day long for 3 days straight and today was supposed to be dry. Hopefully it will dry up later this afternoon and I can get out for a proper ride.

Installed a camera to watch over my wee bike. I'll go out later to get some clips to tidy up the cables and have a ride. Looks like it will be a nice weekend.
The camera is linked to my phone and echo show, has movement and person detection and a siren that scared the hell out of me when my neighbour drove off. Siren got switched off.

Great morning though the wind picked up in the afternoon. Washed bike, lubed and checked chain and checked the oil level etc.
At the moment my wife's car is in the workshop so my bike is our only transport. After I had had my fun on the back roads, it was off to do the shopping. Surprising just how much I can carry on an NC 700.

Forecast for Sunday's Polar Bear ride is cold and wet. We are allowed 3 mulligan's where we can ride to the destination from Thursday to Tuesday of the same week, take a selfi and submit via email. So today it was out the door I went. Gray skies, 40 degree's, and dry roads but with lots of debris in the roads from the previous week's rains and snow melt. Saw the odometer roll over 26,000 miles. 92 miles for the day.

Off topic, but is motorcycle theft a big problem in your neck of the woods? It's increasing here in the USA but fortunately not in my area.

@the Ferret, note sentence 2.

Not down where I am but it is a problem in Dublin. I am more worried about teens acting up near the bike. We do have a problem of bored teenagers and petty vandalism.
As an aside, I forgot to mention I was going past a bog area today and saw a magnificent sparrowhawk right in front of me. I wish I had a helmet cam. It was close enough for me to shave off some speed as I almost hit it.

I was lucky enough to have a Bald Eagle right in front of me. I was not on my motorcycle and caught it on my dashcam. I saw it on top of a resident's roof and watched it for some time before it flew to the spot where you see him in the video. I was riding my NC not too long ago and saw the biggest Bald Eagle I'd ever laid eyes on, pulled a u turn, and it took of before I could capture him on my cell phone. Well, I did capture it but it was flying away but it has no real quality to it.

Met friends yesterday morning for coffee and a day ride. After 150 miles we stopped for a break and when taking off my gear the long entry/exit zipper from throat to left ankle jammed on my 1 pc Aerostich Roadcrafter. The way it is constructed if the zipper breaks when it's donned and the zipper is fully closed there's no way out of the suit without damaging or ruining the suit. Thanks to my good friends Ashley, Bil, and Bernie we managed to force the zipper down far enough to get me out of the suit but when working on the jammed up slides I broke one slide completely. Bernie had a few long zip ties and we secured the suit around my left leg and I took the web belt out of my pants to secure the torso section around my chest. It was better than no protection but I called it a day and rode 50 miles home like that. There is an old time shoe and luggage repair shop in Jacksonville that can replace the zipper for a fair price.

Rode 60 miles today. There is a stretch of Rt 66 that is a good test for the suspension. I think the shock is pretty good. If I made a change I think I would try lighter weight oil in the fork. Its not too bad but I would improve that first. The shad seat is good, No buffeting with the shimmed puig sport screen at speeds up to 65.

The rack I bought won't bolt up as is. Going to have to remake the rear mounting tabs and get them welded on which I wont get to till next week.

Temps hit 80 the last couple days. Did my usual twisty weekend ride along the spine of the Santa Monica mountains, with the sun setting behind me making the rocks ahead really bright. Lots of bikes and sports cars enjoying the perfect weather.
Passed a guy on a Grom having apparently as much fun as small wheels and 125cc will allow on often irregular pavement. It's not what you ride...

Love the color Dave, same as mine. And yet we are still invisible.

Day 15... after raining all weekend (rain snow mix yesterday morning) it finally quit this morning. I waited until 3 PM an got out on partially damp roads and ran the same 32 mile loop I ran last Friday afternoon. 36 degrees and cloudy

Between rain, snow, and a vacation in Baja, I have not ridden in January. Tomorrow was supposed to be not too bad, so I was going to ride to work. However, the forecast is shifting, so I used the NC to run to the store today. Not much of a ride, but in Canada, any January ride is a win. And it gave me a chance to be smug about the frunk. 2L of oat milk, a broccoli crown, some baking supplies, and 12 barley-related beverages of the can form. Still had room for some odds and ends. I win.

Day 16 .... weather terrorists are calling for a wintry mix starting at noon, so I got out early and got in a 48 mile ride @ 33 degrees and cloudy

Day 17 ....Closed out the month of January with a 41 mile ride @ 40 degrees and cloudy. 17 days ridden and 643 miles for the month, all on the NC. First month in 10 years I haven't ridden the CB at least once.
