Just had a look for my SV1000 which has a similar set up... 120Nm (87lbft). I had the sprocket off on the NC the other week. The nuts removed without drama, and likewise, torqued back up to 108Nm
I made a fibreglass mould of the OEM, cut a wedge out of the middle of it to set the new angle and then made the new wind shield from that. The final part is again made of fibreglass.
The wind turbulence on my 700S annoyed me early on as well. The result is that I made a custom shaped deflector based on the OEM. Much better out on the road now, but the mirrors are the next source of turbulence and wind noise
After noticing the gradual decrease in suspension performance over time, I figured it would be due for a bit of suspension love. The NC has done 78,000km without any attention to the suspension yet. Ripped the front forks apart, got rid of the brown "oil", cleaned everything, and fitted Race...
After noticing that my seat has been growing in reluctance to release on the LHS (RHS latch was releasing perfectly fine), curiosity got the better of me. I had been trying to lubricate the latch mechanism in place, but to no avail, so I though it would be time to investigate what was actually...
Here's my 700S, showing the first 40,000km. The bike does a 100km each way commute, and majority of the riding is on the same road, so varying terrain is not really a factor.
Well, I've only been on the bikes for a relatively short time, but here goes...
First bike, GS500f, delivered new just prior to ever having ridden a motorbike (nothing like jumping in at the deep end!)
(met it's match a year later when I T-boned a car that stopped across all lanes of the...
When I suspected the windscreen was causing the buffeting that was hitting the chin of my helmet, hence making it b!@@&y loud, even with ear plugs, I tried the removal of the original screen, which definitely helped.
End result was
It's a fibreglass copy that I moulded from the original...
Ah, good to see another S Downunder. Seems we're still a rarity out here, as I've only ever seen one other NC in the wild. Just racked up 33,000km the other day, mainly commuting (200km round trip)
If it tends to squeak particularly in relation to bumps in the road, check that the adjuster plates on the back of the swing-arm are still tight. I was hunting a noise like that on mine, thinking that it was one of the suspension links, and it turned out the plate was just loose enough to rattle...
You guys are still lucky with your speedo errors. Here, it's legislated that all vehicles must over-read their speeds. The upper limit of the over-read varies with the type of vehicle, motorcycles being given the largest allowable error. 10% of the true speed, plus an additional 8km/h is...
The Aussie schedule matches the Euro in that it's inspect brake fluid every 12k km and replace every 2 years. Good, otherwise I'd be flushing the fluid every 6 months
This shows the general layout of the new handlebars
I went with the Acerbis Dual Road hand guards. They are fairly slim with the full guard installed, but still let a bit of air behind, probably because of the distance that they project forward of the grips. Still, much better than...
As far as the bars go, I ended up doing the opposite on my S... Dropped and moved forward. I installed the leg wind deflectors as I ride all through winter, but I question whether they really have any great effect, but the hand guards definitely do help. Otherwise, the only other change, so far...
Here's what I did. It's just some vinyl that signwriters use, and if I mark these enough, I'll just remove and stick on a new set. Actually, they are proving more durable than the original paint
