Ok guys and gals. After much time and thought on the existing DIY and purchasable screens, I had the perfect (to me) screen pretty much show right up to me. A few of us at work ride and the part-time summer help guy pulled up on his 2008 Kawasaki Vulcan that he just purchased. Since I was trying to come up with my own idea, I was looking at all the other bike's radiator screens. I saw his screen and thought- THAT'S PERFECT!. So to make a long story short, Kawasaki Part #14037-0046 radiator screen works just fine and dandy.

I tried to utilize the existing mounting tabs, but I couldn't come up with something I liked. So off they went, along with a cutout at the bottom for the metal bar in the middle of the bike.

At this point, I repainted the screen, let it dry, and installed it with some safety wire in two spots in the top center and the two bottom corners.

To gain some clearance between the screen and the fins, I cut two small pieces of transmission oil cooler hose and positioned them in the center of the screen on the left and right sides.

All is done and all has been well for over 700 miles now.
