It's 7.45am in Singapore and I just came back from a short ride on my 2021 NC750X DCT.
Being riding for 28 years and had rode 20 bikes as listed:
1. Piaggio skipper 125
2. Aprilla RS125
3. Aprillia RS125
4. RVF 400
5. Steed 400
6. Super 4 ver S
7. Super 4 spec 1
8. Fazer 1000
9. Super 4 spec 3
10. Fazer 600
11. Fazer 1000
12. R1 2007
13. GSXR K6 1000
14. Hayabusa
15. CB400X 2014
16. Versys 650
17. Fazer 800
18. NC750X 2017
19. CB400X 2016
20. NC750X 2021
From scooters to hayabusa, this is my 2nd NC750X.
*My advice on buying a NC750X*
Different model/type of motorcycle serves different purposes. For track, you need a sports 600 or 1000. For town and short distance, you need a scooter or small bike. For touring, you need a adventure 600 or 1000.
As for NC750X, it fits into 2 out of the above 3 categories. It is a great commuter, a good touring bike with good storage and good mileage, and is very comfortable. Given the DCT, you have the most advantage especially when you install a cruise control.
The reason to why i had owned 2 NC750X is bcos my first NC is a manual and i didn't like the tall gearing. It is also higher and heavier.
For the 2021 DCT model, the gearing is perfect and it is definitely lighter and lower. This gives a different feeling and you feel the bike is more nimble, boosting confidence when riding.
Did a full servicing yesterday but had no time to go for a test ride. Below is the list of servicing done:
1. Flush and changed engine oil (Amsoil 10w40 Full Synthetic)
2. Flush and changed coolant (engine ice)
3. Replaced original air filter
4. Replaced Denso iridium plugs
5. Replaced chain & sprockets (F16/R39)
6. Replaced front and rear tires (Bridgestone T32)
Bike is running like new.
*Thoughts on using 16/39 sprockets*
The original size for 2021 onwards DCT model is 17/41 which is fine but it is hard to find as most LBS is stocking for the non DCT model which is 17/43.
Had previously played with different configuration of 17/43 (Too short, gear changed too fast causing the bike to rock when at low speed), 17/39 (Too tall, slow acceleration and gear change), 16/41(see 17/43).
16/39 is just nice with good and smooth acceleration and enough power for the highway.
Had previously installed a BMC air filter but was getting a choking feeling when accelerating hard. Mechanic told me that it is bcos too much air is being let in and the reason ppl use such filters is when they had changed to full system exhaust and flashed their ecu. Else, it is a waste of $$$.
