trip gage wont reset

got bike used, no manual but I have tried every button pressing combo I can think of

My 2014 won't always reset when the bike is off. If I start the bike it will reset. Another of the weird trip reset problems that plague the 2014 models.

This question comes up often. Left button selects which trip meter, then hold down right button several seconds to reset it. Reference these and other past threads:

Feeling the button is another thing I had to get used to. I was pushing the button WAY harder than I needed to. Once you get the feel of it, it's pretty easy.
With the key off just gently push on the rubber part until you can feel the button. Mine is just a little below center of the rubber.
Anyway, that was my problem. Hope that helps.
