NC750X Canadian version

Fantastic weather last weekend. Had a nice long ride on Sunday. Saturday i had a couple of appointment so did not ride too much.
Really enjoying this bike, It just purrs along on the highway. Love the Bridgestone Battlewing tires. Had a chat with a Kawasaki
Versys rider and he has been using the same tires and said he loves them. Tons of grip in the wet.

My first weekend of riding the bike i had issues with knee pain after a while and sore butt. But after this past weekend my iron butt is coming back.
And no knee pain at all.

I have booked my first service for May 13. I will be over the 1k by a bit but that is ok. Did the same with my former NC750S.
I knew i was going to be close to the 1k on odo last weekend. When i parked the bike on Sunday, i looked at the odo and it sits at 999km
I would have made the appointment for May 06 for service but i have another appointment that day so i have to do it on the 13th.
Making an appointment with the dealer means i will get the bike in first thing and pick it up later the same day.

I figure by the time i drop it off for service i will be at around 1500km. This coming weekend the weather going to be more sun and warm temps.
With my former NC750S my first service was at around 1400km.

One thing about the bike i noticed that i thought was cool was the ghost clock. When the bike is off the clock on the dash still works. There is a ghostly image of
the numbers on the dash. One other thing i noticed is that the NC speedo seems to be accurate. Will have to GPS test it but i have gone past some of those roadside
radar signs that say "your speed is XXX" i look at the Speedo and it same.

Just an FYI - Any Vancouver BC area folks looking for a DCT. I saw one on the floor of the local Honda dealer today (not my dealer)
This is the dealer at First and Boundary.

I am one of the owners of the 11 2016 750's in Canada. I actually bought it USED with 700km on it. Absolutely love it. Just wondering who the other 10 riders are and if you are a member here on these forums?

I'm one in Ottawa. I bought mine sight unseen. When I picked up mine from the powersports dealer in early June I asked how many DCTs they'd sold. He said My NC and one Africa Twin. I'm amazed you found a used one! I wonder what the story was. I love mine too, enjoy your's!

I'm one also, from Montréal. 2016 NC750x Standard. Eh @Batdude, where did you get those numbers? 11 owners for all of Canada is quite a low one. No wonder I can't get my Givi E22 sidecases for my 2016 model. It's not worth it for them to import it here, I suppose... (Bummer...)

Hello Canuck. I got the numbers from this forum thread - just back a few pages. I don't know but I assume its true because I had a really hard time finding one of these bikes. Just by dumb luck I stumbled upon a 2016 used DCT model with 700km on it. I originally preferred the manual transmission version but after test driving the DCT I fell in love with it. I think the story on the previous owner is that he probably pre-ordered the bike then continued to do more research. He ended up trading it almost immediately on a BMW adventure bike. He also put Pirelli off road tires on the nc750x which is exactly what I wanted to do (see photo). So things worked out really well.

So far loving the nc750x! For a new rider like me its so easy and fun to ride.

I came to this forum when I noticed the front headlight was not LED (what the heck?!) but after reading the forums here I guess that's just how it is on the Canadian models. That was a little disappointing.

I read somewhere these had LED headlight but when my Australian version 2016 NC750X arrived - just plain old headlight. Just stripped the forks to fit Gold Valves. The forks are the most basic damper rod type there is. Rides a lot better in the front now. My new Wilbers shock arrives from Germany next week which should then transform this motorcycle into a really sweet handling machine.

There are at least three in Kitchener; I have one.

Amusing story.

Last month my dealer had a demo 2016 750 DCT, and one on the floor. After much contemplation and discussion with the minister of fun & finance I decided that if a long ride on the demo was positive, I'd buy. So I came in, they tossed me the keys and away I went for an hour. I come back happy and the salesperson says "well, that's great, but we just sold the one on the floor." Someone who had taken an earlier drive had come in to sign the papers while I was out. Yeek.

They said they'd call around and see if they could find another, and managed to do so through some apparent? miracle. So I put down a deposit and they said it would be ready in about a week. I happened to see the guy who was in the office on the way out and just checked with him to see if the dealer's story was true: it was. He had just bought the showroom 750 DCT. Nice intercept!

I got the call a few days earlier than expected and came in to pick up my bike and there was a big crate in their parking lot that said NC 750 XDG and I was wondering, hey, surely they can't be expecting me to wait around while they uncrate it.

Turns out they managed to scrounge up a THIRD bike for someone who had put money down on an Africa Twin but there were simply not enough of those to go around. I have no idea where they were getting these bikes because they are reportedly out of stock everywhere.

So anyway my dealer sold three of them in three days.

And, yeah, the headlight is incandescent (but pretty bright), the seat is absolutely wretched, and just about everything else is fabulous.

Ya, same with all us other dirty colonials, and our US brothers and sisters are even more poorly represented. We all end up getting the dregs of stripped down or feature lacking models that the enlightened folk in the rest of the real world, get lol

Just as well they are priced as they are! I guess you cannot expect top end features at such a budget price.

Hi Grrant, fellow Aussie here. care to elaborate on the front fork mods ie what, where from, and how. I am waiting on a Nitron from the UK to stop the pogoing I got on a trip to the Hunter Valley last week. Cheers Pipsqueak

I believe the 2017 nc750x Canadian version does have the LED headlight. I see what they are doing. Any left over stock in Europe from 2016 they ship to Canada as a "2017" model. The colour in Europe last year was candy red and that's what Canada gets this year....

And....I just realized something else. Europe and Canada are metric so there is no change needed on the electronics. And that's likely why they don't ship any to the USA. Hmmmmmmm.

We don't have to change our electronics to metric if we want the speedo to read in metrics instead of standard. We just have to push some buttons on the speedo to get to the proper menu to change to metric. Procedure is in the owners manual. Only mother Honda knows the real reason why the 750x doesn't come to US.

Delivery

I have question ya'll - so I ordered mine in the middle of January, so I won't expect it until like mid April based on the past history of members in this thread??? is this about right??? I saw almost everyone here who ordered theirs over the winter none got them delivered in March?!? :( what's the build date??? Feb?

Cant recall my build date but i ordered mine end of Feb 2016 and took delivery April 15 2016. The wait wasnt too bad until we started into mid March / early April. The nice weather was driving me insane.

yes i am in BC (Vancouver) the funny thing about that tho is.. the bikes are off loaded in Vancouver. Trucked to Calgary. Then shipped back to Vancouver.
Stupid i know, but there is no warehouse in Vancouver so it has to go the Calgary first.

I'm near Toronto and I read somewhere in this thread someone saying that there is a warehouse in Toronto which would makes sense as a central location. Anyhow, hoping to get my bike mid March but who knows. I was thinking the same with the candy red color last year in Europe now coming to Canada but Honda's site still does not mention led headlight, just the Showa forks and when I compoare to 2016 model the Shoawa forks were not there, so I'm thinking the site is accurate and won't get LED headlight - of course hoping I'm wrong...

So Whiteknuckle do you still like yours? have you done any 2 up riding ? I'm hoping it will be OK for 2up with the wife on it on the highway... how does it handle on the highway in high winds? I'm coming from a burgman 400 which was OK but got beaten up in cross winds especially with the wife on it.

Thanks for any feedback :)
