Met-up with Red NC, solid dude! We BS's for a long time, had the mall cops check us out and he' gonna check out my Sargent seat to see if it's something his butt likes. Found out we worked for the same boss a few years back. It's seriously a small world. Great section to a nice day.20170716_132137.jpg

Went on a 100 miler in East Portland near Mt Hood. Had the Hero on the helmet - fairly standard footage until I noticed that I had my right turn signal on for over 40 miles. I am serious going to look into adding a signal beeper to the bike. Sigh...

Saturday, went for a ride in Southeastern Indiana.
A little video around Rising Sun Indiana along the Ohio River.

Another little video around Friendship, Indiana:

It was a beautiful, chamber of commerce day to be out riding around.

Stock scorpions have about 9700 miles and I found this on the front tire. Thought rear wears out faster?? Anyways ordering set of Shinkos as we speak. Hope these have 2 more commutes (120 miles) in them!!

Took a friend and showed him one of the best rides in Oklahoma, Spavinaw to Salina.

Temperature was still reasonable at about 85 when we finished, but it was getting hotter fast.

Peeled off the dealership stickers and washed the bike, finishing off with wax :)
Also stickered my nickname on the bike's windshield.

lol!

I got home from work only to find out that my rear tire is nearly flat for some reason. I saw more metal in the front so I decided to play it safe and not commute for rest of the week and change out the tires this weekend.

Whew! How are your brake pads?

Glad to hear that.

Rear brake pads are solid. I tried to change them couple of months ago and they had a lot of pad left. Sadly, I haven't inspected the front in a while. I should order the front pads just incase as well as a new chain to minimize down time as we only have one car and nc700x is my only mode of transportation.

Install one of Dale's (HondaBikePro) rear racks (with hole for gas cap) and, again, rode into work!

After passing the BRS course this past weekend (with zero points, unlike some 'seasoned' riders  ) I decided I am going to ride in manual mode for a while to get more accustomed to paying attention to revs and gear changes. I've primarily ridden in D or S2 and manually shifted down for overtaking and for slowing down (curves & stops), with only minimal M mode. I had never ridden a bike with a clutch lever before this weekend, and after 7 hours x 2 days of working the friction zone I have to tell you that the DCT really rocks!! I grew up driving stick shift cars and prefer them over traditional automatics. I've driven fast cars with paddle shifters and they're cool too. But for me, going from unpowered 2 wheels to a scooter to my NC with DCT, I have a whole new appreciation for the technology that allows me to work the gears at the mere touch of a button while focusing on all of the other aspects of riding. I did hit the red line last night during a brief sprint overtaking a lorry when I dropped to 4th for the acceleration, but only parts of a second later I had triggered the shift and continued accelerating. My mountain bike has trigger shifters so that part came real easy to me. Not saying that I won't ever own a clutch levered bike, but it's going to have to offer me something really special to draw me away. With the VFR1200X available in a DCT, I can see one of those possibly being in the future if I really want to go bigger; the GW has no interest for me even if they do release a DCT version, nor the AT for my fit or style of riding. The 500X would be cool in DCT for my daughter, although she's looking at the CTX as being a better fit for her anyway.

The very fact that I can go back to D for my commute & traffic, or S2 for 'lazy' fun riding is just incredible, and again at the mere touch of a button!!

Got to say, this bike is awesome!!

PS this post in no way shape or form is saying anything negative about the manual version (or the stuck-in-the-past, refuse-to-embrace-the-future manual operators - just kidding :p !!). Not starting a flamewar between the two. Just extolling a renewed level of respect for the DCT technology!!

I agree, in fact it would be a cool addition to the 300 and the Gold Wing, for that matter.
Motorcycle riders are conservative about new tech.
People still resist ABS, and airbag vests are very uncommon.
I guess we are lucky we don't still have suicide shifters.

It's documented and official....

Found out I need a hip replacement in the next 12 months and probably a knee replacement right after that.
Did not expect this at 46. But explains the pain...

Dr. said riding won't do anymore damage, just cause me pain.. so I'm gonna be a crabby, pain filled SOB cause I ain't giving up riding anytime soon.

Aleve, and some heat pads maybe??

Looks like there's an off season procedure in your future.
