2016: What did you do to/with your NC700 today?

Well Honda friends, I traded in the NC. At 58k miles it was time to either sell it while it was still worth something, or keep it forever. Local dealer had a leftover '15 FJ-09 and I couldn't resist. Thank you all for 4 years of helpful, friendly advice -- this has been the best bike...

    nice deal on Battlax tires

Just a head's up if it's almost time for tires, this deal is back on, but only for a couple more days. https://bridgestonerewards.com/ $50 off means I got my set of T30 Evo for $186 from Rocky Mtn. Haven't used the tires before, but for around 1/2 the price of PR4 I figured I'd roll the...

    "Cheap, import" Wind Deflector

Ordered one as well. Wasn't willing to shell out $75+ for any of the others, but for $40 it's worth a shot to see if it offers any improvement for me. trey

2016: What did you do to/with your NC700 today?

OE headlight low beam finally died. I'd been looking for an excuse to try out the latest LED 'bulb' modules, so I went with the Cyclops 3800. Cyclops has continued to tune this bulb over time, which is good. I know quite a few had real issues installing previous versions. It now has little...

Yet Another Review of the New Africa Twin

Oh really?? I totally missed that I guess. They had a cut-away AT motor at the MotoGP race and I remember seeing screw and lock nut adjusters and thinking that was good, but I must have only looked at the exhaust and assumed the intakes were the same. Strange set up for sure! trey

    CalSci Great Service

I don't know about that... Yes, there were some issues with riders clearly over torquing the mounting nuts causing cracks, but that wasn't the whole story. I bought mine knowing that some were having issues, but chalked it up to user error, and was very cautious with mine. That said, in about 4...

Yet Another Review of the New Africa Twin

I'm still a few years out from replacing my NC, but I've started to window shop. I totally agree, the S10 seems great, the AT is probably overly dirt oriented for my needs. S10 gives me tubeless tires and shaft drive, which I'd love (So does the VFR1200X). But... then I get to that weight...

    Question about Adjusting Chain Tension

I'm right there with you LBS. I used it in my Tutoro auto oiler for a while. Worked just fine, but once the temps heated up the smell of the gear oil was just too much sitting in traffic. Right now I'm using 2 stroke engine oil, no smell! trey

A Little Northwest Arkansas Camping Ride!

Good luck! I'm actually headed to Ponca Friday to a 3 day canoe trip down the Buffalo river for a buddy's bachelor party. Hopefully the weather cooperates for both of us! trey

    Fork Seal Protectors??

I ride mostly on road, but I noticed quite a few good sized chips and dings in the plastic protectors when replacing my fork seals at 55k miles this weekend. I'm sure they chip easier than the metal forks, but it's relatively cheap protection and peace of mind. trey

2016: What did you do to/with your NC700 today?

Be sure to do a little searching on this site on CalSci and the cracking issues. Not sure what/if anything has been done to address it since then, but CalSci burned quite a few of us with defective screens a few years ago. I certainly wouldn't buy another. YMMV, trey

to frunk or not to frunk

Long trips like that I'll just take the rear seat off. It's only a couple of bolts holding it on, then you can strap your stuff down and leave the fuel cap exposed so you don't have to mess with it. Cost, $0  trey

    Battery change

This might sound silly but... have you put a multi-meter on the new battery to make sure it's not dead? trey

    Hello from Austin, TX!

You'd be fine winging it on the first oil change I suspect (there are a few really good step by steps on the board, and on YouTube), but for more involved stuff (valve adjustment, fork rebuild) the Helm manual is well worth the price - 2012-2013 NC700X/XD Service Manual - Helm Incorporated trey

    Hello from Austin, TX!

I've never bought a bike from Woods, but I've always heard it isn't the best experience. CTPS was pretty painless, felt like I got a good deal. Never used them for service, I do all of it myself, so I can't really say. 1st checkup is essentially just an oil and filter (and DCT filter) change...
