2017: What did you do to/with your NC700 today?

Finally got a ride in on the NC that was more than 120 miles or so. Real windy and still colder weather than I truly revel in, but at least I was comfortable : } ...got to watch out for all that pea gravel and sand/dust laying around the pavement, especially at intersections, from winter road treatments ; }

My WR has done a lot of lower-valley roading as well, but soon I should be able to use both with more joie de vivre!

Is it a challenge PL1111 not being a rectangle? Take a lot of pictures for the mount installation!!

Hi kumatae, I've completed installation; it works, it takes about 2 minutes per case to mount/dismount them, it would take a triple failure for the case to come off the bike, which is unlikely. I'll leave it for now as is; however, now I know what I know and if I could (and maybe I will) do it again, I'd go with Happy Trail kit. Since I'm not "impressed" with my own design, I will not post pics. This is how they look on the bike:

Okay, when the time comes I'll go with happy trail mount kit as well. Appreciate your feedback. Also the mount on top of your rear box, do you have a link for that? I dont have a givi box and think their mount is way over priced. Just wanted to see other options. Thanks!

The Tusks are a super deal. But I really lean toward Pelican/Hepco&Becker/Caribou. Less likely to eat your leg if you go down, and very very durable.

That's true. I was considering that when I was making decision on which cases to buy. When riding on the street (with Tusks installed) I'm super conscious about that. Once I take the NC off-road, I'll go with soft luggage.

That's Bestem case. I got the rack from Bestem USA website when it was on sale.

Checked the tire pressures, reloaded my Oxford top bag with the tool kit, first aid kit, portable battery jumper, flashlights, cleaner and rags and made a nice little "longer ride kit" that I can easily mount or unmount on my rear carrier. Now the frunk is again available for the helmet/gloves when stopped and man-purse (keys, phone, wallet, glasses, GPS case and gun) when moving.

Side note on the man-purse - this is quite handy when stopping for food, rest or hike - sling it over my shoulder - everything I need is right there.

Just as I finished that garage work, the sun decided to make an appearance so I grabbed the jacket, gloves and helmet for a VERY SHORT 20 mile run around the neighborhood (less than an hour). Of course, it soon was back to Portland situation normal and the rain resumed. Not a bad day...

Finally replaced my broken mirror with cheaper alternative. Bought regular threaded mirrors on amazon and order two sets of mirror adapters. You can see in depth on my other post. But so glad to have mirrors on both sides and for whatever reasons they don't vibrate.

Took advantage of a break in the weather yesterday for a nice little 80 mile ride through some hills and wine country west of me (Don, found some nice roads for later in the spring...).
Unfortunately, hit some pea gravel about 60 miles in when turning onto a side street to turn around for a missed road and low-sided at about 7-10 mph into a dirt/grass ditch. Bent the shift lever (was able to bend it back to a usable state), put a few scratches into the left side plastic (nothing too bad, though, just a little "personality"), and broke the left front turn signal. Grrrr.
Jammed or sprained my left wrist and bruised my ego a bit. Finished the ride, though, and can't wait to get parts ordered and in so I can get back out on the road soon.

Glad to hear it wasn't too bad and you sound too be taking the situation very well. If you replace the turn signal with anything other then OEM report back on how it works out.

I'll probably go OEM for now, although ~$70 is a bit of a hit. Later, when I have more time (and more free cash), I'll probably look at upgrading all the auxiliary lighting to LED.

There are many cheap turn signals out there. I would just replace both to match if not going oem.

Took it out for a long one today, made a stop at Vidalia and then over by Wendy's across from the Paragon Casino. 1.5 tanks, ~280 mi (forgot to check the meter, but after the first half tank we went about 210 mi more).

Why?
We took my sons pieces and JB welded them back together to make a Franken signal. Works fine. Unless you have to have all the "proper" looks.
I will try to find the thread. Maybe I did not make one for that.

And we also have aftermarket for less.

Will try to find what, where, when, how.

At just shy of 20,000 miles I replaced the air cleaner element and installed an LED voltage monitor (like the Clearwater Voltage Sensor but generic).

Therapy beat me to it. JB Weld is like hot sauce... I put that sh*t on everything :)

Installed grip puppies and took the hand guards down for the summer! Can't wait to test the grips out tomorrow.
