Decided to swap my 20" Madstag windshield for a 22" after riding with it for 2 days.

Madstad Customer Service is Excellent...very smooth process to do the swap within the 60 day window after purchase.

Why, I had wind buffering over 70 MPH...good at all lower speeds. I felt that I needed more protection when riding on the Interstate when in a more upright riding position.

Also reinstalled an OEM muffler...WOW is the Bike quite now with the new Windscreen and OEM Muffler instead of the 2 Brothers..WAY BETTER for Touring!

Got stuck at the Louisiana visitor center in slidell because my battery got drained. Nobody has jumpstart cables and it takes forever using the battery tender. Might as well call the towing guy...

I'm glad you like it and are happy with the trade:) it is a lot quieter than the two bros. I installed the center stand stopper yesterday to go along with the two brothers exhaust.

Enjoy your touring:)

A Genuine Wal-Mart fix for the battery low problem can be purchased at any Wal-Mart you are near.

Schumacher Red Fuel - works great on a motorcycle. About the size of a cell phone, so packs easy. Bingo - fixes battery
problems when on road with no one's help. Also, charges Iphone and tablet. Especially made for us folks who leave our key on! A must have for DCT owners who can not push start their motorcycles.

Wish u had mentioned that earlier!
After 1 hour of battery tender I finally could start the bike. Hurrah! At least no towing today.

Since I spent the night in Redding, CA, I stopped by Russell Cycle Products to check on getting a slight adjustment to my Day-Long seat (one year, 50k mile checkup?). To my surprise, they were taking the seat off and taken back in their shop to make the adjustment immediately. Wow!

After about an hour, the technician returned with the adjustment finished (free) and put it back on.

Great service with a smile, I'm ready to get back on the road home.

320 mile later, I had made it over the mountain passes just before a winter storm was to dump a load of snow and restrict my progress. I made it home with only the beginning sprinkles of rain during the last 5 miles.

I rode the NC and my son rode his CB500X for a ten mile loop of dirt roads, stopped for gas to top off the tanks with no-alcohol gas and then back to our house to put the bikes in the shed for the winter. It was 60 F when we left the house at 3 PM. Rain is forecast for tomorrow during the day followed by snow tomorrow night and the rest of the week.

I've been thinking I need to send mine in to have it altered but what a great idea to ride there and have it done!

How do you like the sound now?

I love it! I love the audible firing of the cylinders at idle. Where I cruise most of the time (2500-3000 rpms) it's still very quiet but when I open her up, it's a much nicer growl. Plus my bike is almost all red and black and this black carbon fits in right at home. :)

I would highly recommend getting an appointment for a ride-in to get your Day-Long, if you are close enough, I did. They are able to see you in your riding positions on the bike there, go and make a seat, put it back on for a feel test by you, and then make any additional adjustments and finish, all in one day. It's a great custom seat that, for me, doesn't delay butt soreness while on long rides, but it eliminates butt soreness! Don't forget to get the heated option, it's delightful!

If you want a Russell Day Long, you best to be a six foot or taller person. Otherwise you will fall over quite a few times, as your feet will not touch the ground. The real Russell Day Long seat raises the seat to ground measurement about 1 inch. Russell does make a sports version that is a full inch shorter, but is not the comfort of the Day Long. A few folks have made that mistake over the years!

That's good to know. With a 32" inseam I'm not sure I can afford much more stretch to the ground. Maybe I'll have the good fortune to meet a fellow NC/Day Long owner and be afforded the opportunity to sit on one.
